Reducing social health inequalities

Social health inequalities are increasing daily where people live, work, play and love. Dr. Louise Potvin,  Canada Research Chair in Community Approaches and Health Inequalities, conducts collaborative research with public health and community organizations to better understand the processes and impact of actions taken by various community actors, whether in or outside the health sector, to improve health equity.

Working with Canadian and international partners, Potvin is investigating community-based interventions that address structural determinants of health such as food security and housing. The program will also train graduate student and postdoctoral fellows in collaborative population health intervention research.
