Research summary
Almost 750,000 Canadians currently live with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. As Canada Research Chair in Neurostimulation in Cognitive Disorders, Dr. Tarek Rajji is exploring ways to improve their cognition.
Rajji has already developed new neurostimulation and neurophysiological approaches to study and enhance cognition in older people who suffer from dementia. He and his research team have also conducted a large trial to test the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation among older individuals with mild cognitive impairment or depression. Now, Rajji and his team hope to build on their findings to come up with new ways to help those suffering from cognitive disorders.
