Research summary

Experiencing socio-economic and psychosocial adversity early in life can affect your lifelong mental health. Dr. Isabelle Ouellet-Morin, Canada Research Chair in the Developmental Origins of Vulnerability and Resilience, is studying how this happens.

With a focus on several stress systems and biomarkers, she and her research team are examining vulnerability and resilience in individuals, families and communities using longitudinal, genetically informed and intergenerational designs. Ouellet-Morin is also leading a collaborative project with government partners to assess the province of Quebec’s needs in digital mental health. She and her team are developing new tools, generating knowledge about how to improve the uptake and efficacy of these tools, and exploring the best ways to share them with the public, especially youth who face adversity.
