Research summary
Improving health care depends on using better data to make decisions. Advances in computing power and statistical and artificial intelligence have created an opportunity to exploit the increasing amount of health data available today. As Canada Research Chair in Population Health Informatics, Dr. David Buckeridge is looking for ways to use “Big Data” to control epidemics and improve clinical care processes.
Buckeridge and his research team are developing and evaluating computational methods to support precision public health. These methods will allow the characterization of population and patient health trajectories and identify the best interventions for specific populations. Ultimately, Buckeridge’s research will enable the rapidly increasingly volumes of data and evidence to be used to improve the health of people everywhere.
