Research Summary
Studying the impact of human activity on climate change helps foster citizen mobilization and orient the climate actions of various levels of government. As Canada Research Chair in Measuring the Impact of Human Activity on Climate Change, Dr. Annie Levasseur is examining these issues.
Levasseur and her research team are developing the methodologies needed to devise a dynamic, prospective carbon map of direct and indirect urban greenhouse gas emissions in the greater Montreal area. The map could then be adapted to other municipalities. The team also hopes to create advanced modelling tools at the urban, provincial and national levels for the energy and transportation sectors. Ultimately, their work will help guide public policies and practices on climate change so that these will be based on reliable data and up-to-date scientific knowledge.
