Research summary

Many children experience cognitive, socio-emotional or educational difficulties, so we need effective prevention measures. To that end, Dr. Célia Matte-Gagné, Canada Research Chair in the Child Development Trajectory and Role of the Father, aims to better understand the factors that influence optimal child development, starting from the earliest years.

Using an observational, longitudinal and multi-dimensional development approach, Matte-Gagné and her research team are attempting to better understand the development trajectories of children from both normative and at-risk populations. They are also exploring the roles that father-related factors play in child development compared with social and individual factors.
