Research summary
The transformations and developments in medicine and contemporary life sciences raise some important societal issues related to aging, antibiotic resistance, genetic engineering, the microbiome and more. Dr. Pierre-Olivier Méthot, Canada Research Chair in Medical Humanities and History of Biological Thought, intends to tackle these issues.
Supported by critical resources from the human and social sciences (especially philosophy and history of medicine and biology, medical anthropology, ethics, literature and the arts), Méthot and his research team are proposing innovative interdisciplinary projects that will advance our knowledge and foster dialogue between the humanities and life sciences.
