Research summary

How do we understand and value creative engagement? This question and related ones are at the heart of research by Dr. David Gauntlett, Canada Research Chair in Creative Innovation and Leadership.

Gauntlett is interested in creative processes, self-initiated everyday creativity, and cultures of making and exchanging. He has written 10 books on these topics and worked with leading creative organizations around the world, including LEGO, the BBC and Tate. He and his research team are studying platforms for creativity to determine how to support the development and exchange of ideas and innovation. They are also exploring how creative identities build diversity and inclusion in creative cultures. Gauntlett and his team hope to improve how we understand creative practice and develop new ways to engage wider audiences with these issues.
