Research summary
To meet the growing demand for rehabilitation services in Canada, there is an urgent need for more effective and accessible therapies that patients can use in hospital, home and community settings. Dr. Kristin Musselman, Canada Research Chair in Multi-morbidity and Complex Rehabilitation, is developing innovative approaches that can be used in these settings to restore movement, function and participation for adults and children living with complex conditions.
She and her research team are investigating new uses of electrical stimulation and photography to increase the effectiveness of therapies. They are also using technology to develop tools that measure participation in-and outcomes of-different therapies. With these innovations in assessment and care delivery, Musselman and her team are contributing to rehabilitation research and building clinical capacity in Canada.
