Research summary
The COVID-19 pandemic led to supply chain challenges related to manufacturing, transportation and product availability. It also contributed to a change in consumers’ priorities. The result has been a shift in the types of products and services people want and how much they value them. This new landscape requires corresponding adaptations in business practices, such as supply chain configuration, inventory replenishment, capacity allocation and pricing.
As Canada Research Chair in Operations Excellence and Business Analytics, Dr. Woonghee Huh is studying how to match supply and demand in supply chains and service systems. Using business analytics, he and his research team are investigating how ?rms can make operations decisions based on emerging data, e?ectively combining learning and optimization. Ultimately, their research will help Canadian and international companies and organizations to develop more efficient supply chains.
