Research summary
Understanding how living things evolve can be complicated because there are a number of different possible directions from which to approach research in this area. As Canada Research Chair in Evolutionary Systems Biology and Population Dynamics, Dr. Adrian Serohijos aims to bring a variety of ideas about evolution together to provide a clearer picture.
Serohijos and his research team are focusing on how DNA mutations can affect both tiny microbes and larger organisms, like plants and animals. By studying how these mutations can affect everything from how microbes interact in a community to how bigger organisms function at the molecular level, they hope to gain deeper insights. Ultimately, this research could help us grasp how life changes and adapts over time in a more comprehensive way.
