Research summary

The world is moving toward a future in which everyone and everything is connected all the time. To support this reality, we need stronger and more efficient networks that don’t cost a fortune to set up or run. As Canada Research Chair in Radio Access Networks, Dr. Ming Zeng aims to develop innovative solutions to satisfy this unprecedented and growing need for constant connectivity. He and his research team are focusing on two promising technologies: one for boosting network capacity and energy efficiency, and another for reducing the cost of building and operating networks. Their goal is to build highly efficient, extremely low-cost radio access networks to meet the increasing demand for mobile access everywhere at high speeds and capacities. Ultimately, their work will enable a range of new services, such as autonomous driving and virtual reality, that will shape the way we live our lives and interact with each other.
