Research summary
Managing risks is crucial in a variety of fields, including finance, economics, natural sciences and more. But it’s not always easy to understand risks properly or mitigate them. As Canada Research Chair in Quantitative Risk Management, Dr. Ruodu Wang aims to improve our knowledge of risk and how we handle risks.
He and his research team are doing this by introducing new ideas and methods to address the most pressing issues. They are creating better ways to measure and evaluate risks when managing portfolios, optimizing processes or making decisions with many unknowns. They are also trying to understand how various factors depend on each other, especially in mass transportation and financial and economic scenarios. Finally, they hope to come up with trustworthy techniques to test and confirm the effectiveness of these risk management methods.
