Research summary
Patient-oriented research engages patients and their families and caregivers and focuses on the priorities and outcomes that matter most to them. Its aim is to integrate these priorities into policy and practice to improve health-care outcomes. As Canada Research Chair in Knowledge Mobilization and Integration in Practice, Dr. Annie LeBlanc is accelerating the integration of patient-oriented research into practice in order to improve health-care delivery.
To do this, she and her research team are using a three-pronged approach: they are mobilizing evidence for health-care delivery, advancing methods and practice of patient-oriented research in real-life settings, and building capacity to engage in this type of research. By focusing on making patients partners in research, their aim is to bring about rapid and meaningful benefits for patients.
