Research summary

Sexual violence tramples a human being’s basic rights as well as their integrity and safety. It is defined as any dangerous, unwanted behaviour perceived to be of a sexual nature that occurs without the victim’s consent or understanding.

Dr. Madeline Lamboley, Canada Research Chair in Sexual Violence, Prevention and Intervention, is seeking to shine new light on this question from a feminist, intersectional perspective, with a special focus on minority Francophone communities. To encourage new prevention and intervention approaches, Lamboley and her research team are analyzing specific realities and various communities to co-construct tools based on the members’ needs and experiences. They also seek to transform the system and uphold the right to greater access to justice. Their work will help develop strategies for dealing with policy- and decision-making bodies.
