Research summary
Climate change is causing severe environmental impacts, including floods, droughts, and poor agricultural productivity, leading to water and food insecurity. To address these challenges, comprehensive research is needed—not just to understand the impacts on society and ecosystems, but to discover strategies for sustainable management. As Canada Research Chair in Climate Resilient Water and Food Security, Dr. Donghoon Lee is advancing our understanding of the effects of climate change on society.
Lee and his research team are evaluating the short- and long-term management policies of large-scale water systems, assessing social vulnerability to natural disasters in various climate change scenarios, and providing crop productivity forecasts and future food security projections. Working in collaboration with national and international research communities and aid agencies, Lee’s team aims to improve our resilience to the climate crisis by discovering adaptation strategies for water resources, disaster management, and agricultural planning sectors.
