As Canada Research Chair in Financial Networks and Business Analytics, Dr. Mohamed Al Guindy is applying and advancing these emerging techniques to better understand businesses, business media, and the broader economy.
He and research team are analyzing hundreds of millions of financial tweets covering thousands of companies to map out a networked view of the economy. They are examining the hidden connections between firms, how economic shocks ripple through these networks, and how they these patterns change over time. The team is also exploring the structure of the bitcoin blockchain and examining the rise of robo-generated news in business media.
