Research summary

The Standard Model of particle physics is a theory that describes fundamental particles and their interactions. Despite its powers, it does not provide a complete explanation of all our observations, such as the existence of dark matter. Dr. Dominique Trischuk, Canada Research Chair in Particle and Astroparticle Physics, is uncovering new physics to solve such mysteries and provide a more complete picture of our universe.

Trischuk and her research team are producing new data analysis techniques and instrumentation to investigate unexplained phenomena in the Universe, such as dark matter and the generation of neutrino masses. They are enhancing the ATLAS experiment’s discovery potential for long-lived particles. They are also developing a high-speed data acquisition system for a new tracking system that will be integrated into ATLAS. Ultimately, their research will empower the global scientific community to answer fundamental questions in physics.
