Research summary
In today’s rapidly evolving work environments, organizations need teams that can learn continuously and adapt quickly to new technologies, tasks and situations. As Canada Research Chair in Organizational Learning, Dr. Jean-François Harvey is investigating how team learning unfolds over time, how it is shaped by emerging workplace trends such as artificial intelligence (AI) and hybrid work, and how it strengthens an organization’s ability to innovate and adapt.
Harvey and his research team are studying how different learning behaviours interact over time to support performance across varying task demands; how AI tools and hybrid work environments influence team learning dynamics and outcomes; and how learning within teams contributes to an organization’s ability to identify opportunities, respond strategically, and reconfigure activities for continued success. Using interviews, observations, surveys and experiments, this research will generate valuable insights for improving team performance, informing leadership strategies, and supporting organizational agility in Canada and around the world.
