Three Canada Research Chairs awarded Order of Canada


Congratulations to Canada Research Chairs Daniel Drucker, Paul Hébert and Linda Nazar on being named officers to the Order of Canada.

The Order of Canada was established in 1967, Canada’s centennial year, to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. Over the last 45 years, more than 6,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order.



Daniel Drucker, Officer of the Order of Canada (O.C.)

Toronto, Ontario

Daniel Drucker, Canada Research Chair in in Regulatory Peptides, was named Officer of the Order of Canada for his contributions to the development of medicines used around the world to treat diabetes and intestinal disorders.


Paul Hébert, Officer of the Order of Canada (O.C.)

Puslinch, Ontario

Paul Hébert, Canada Research Chair in Molecular Biodiversity, was named Officer of the Order of Canada for his achievements as an evolutionary biologist, notably as a pioneer of DNA barcoding.


Linda Nazar, Officer of the Order of Canada (O.C.)

Waterloo, Ontario

Linda Nazar, Canada Research Chair in Solid State Materials, was named Officer of the Order of Canada for her contributions as a materials chemist who has developed advanced battery systems for clean energy storage.
