Learning with Digital Technology: Sociocultural Issues

Education plays a fundamental role in students’ acquisition of technological skills. However, increasing inequality in education raises whether schools can offer digital learning opportunities equitably while using technology to support students’ learning. The main question is whether schools can fairly provide digital learning experiences, in keeping with their democratic principles.

The Canada Research Chair in Digital Equity in Education will make it possible to document issues around digital equity in education, and to recommend intervention strategies.
