Research summary

With global temperatures quickly rising, there is a critical need to improve predictions of how high and fast future sea levels will rise. The accuracy of predictions is limited foremost by insufficient understanding of future ice-sheet behavior. Dr. Gomez’s proposed research aims to use state-of-the-art numerical modelling and a range of geophysical datasets to gain insight into the response of the polar ice sheets in a changing climate and improve projections of future sea level rise. In turn, this insight will elucidate the implications of climate change for vulnerable coastal populations and ecosystems, and inform the actions needed for resilience.
