Research summary

Advances in digital technologies hold great promise for improving how we prevent, diagnose and treat diseases while managing costs. But integrating, managing, analyzing and interpreting the ever-increasing volume and quality of data collected to develop precise, long-term health strategies is challenging.

As Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Imaging and Healthy Aging, Dr. Habib Benali is creating personalized models that integrate brain imaging, genetic data and behavioural information to better understand neurodegenerative diseases. By combining artificial intelligence with dynamic brain models, he and his research team aim to uncover new biomarkers and mechanisms, leading to tailored risk assessments for patients. Their work has the potential to improve patient care, provide insights into the causes and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, and revolutionize how we prevent, diagnose and treat them.
