Research Summary

Ensuring that youth make the transition to adulthood in a way that enables them to become educated, connected, engaged and valued citizens is a challenge in our digital world. Many of the social networks that once supported young people are weakening, and education systems are in flux, creating constantly evolving challenges. As Canada Research Chair in Youth, Education and Global Good, Dr. Kate Tilleczek aims to understand how youth can live well today.

Tilleczek and her research team are focusing on how young people are navigating emerging digital technologies—such as artificial intelligence, persuasive design and new social media—while also dealing with ecological degradation. They are working with socially and ecologically vulnerable youth to co-develop research, education and policy. The aim is to advance our knowledge of youth well-being and identify the educational supports that young people need to navigate our complex digital and warming world.
