Research summary

Our ecosystems are changing—and it isn’t always easy to tell whether the changes are driven by natural climate impacts or human intervention. Dr. Tricia A. Stadnyk aims to shed light on this.

As Canada Research Chair in Hydrological Modelling, she is working to better understand hydrologic change in Canada (changes to the movement, distribution and management of water) and improve our ability to predict these changes in polar regions. She and her research team are modelling the impacts of climate and human-driven change on Canada’s water supply. They hope to disentangle the cumulative effects of natural climate impacts and human intervention on ecosystems. Ultimately, this will lead to a better understanding of the role of freshwater across the Arctic and of subsequent drivers of the changing ocean currents.
