Research summary
To monitor seniors’ health and safety and help them carry out routine activities, we need to be able to recognize their activities of daily living (ADL) automatically and continuously. Dr. Sébastien Gaboury, Canada Research Chair in Ambient Intelligence for Recognition of Activities in a Multi-residential Context, is responding to this need. He and his research team are advancing the field of ADL recognition in a multi-residential context. They are developing new algorithmic methods of processing the data recorded by sensors installed in seniors’ complexes and worn by residents.
