Research summary
First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada often face inequitable access to health services. As Canada Research Chair in Advancing Generative Health Services for Indigenous Populations in Canada, Dr. Janet Smylie hopes to change that.
She and her research team are working with Indigenous groups and organizations to produce better information about where improvement is needed. They are also trying to address racism at the individual and system levels by refining and applying tools that measure and address it. Finally, they are working to identify healthy ideas and practices at the community level, test them out, and get the ones that work into practice.
