Research summary

Fast and reliable digital communications and distributed generation and storage resources (such as smart grids) are providing new, sustainable solutions for power systems. But they are also creating serious challenges, such as security concerns.

Dr. Mohammadreza Fakhari Moghaddam Arani, Canada Research Chair in Smart Grid Cyber-Physical Security, is exploring and analyzing the resiliency of cyber-enabled grids dominated by modern generation and loads. He and his research team are developing new modelling and control tools to evaluate and optimize both regulations and technologies. Ultimately, they hope their research will lead to a sustainable, clean, smart power system that is resilient to both natural and human-made incidents.
