Research summary

“Green” products contribute to zero-waste manufacturing and a circular economy—and biocomposites have an important role to pay in this shift. Biocomposites are made from two or more distinct materials. When combined, they yield a new material that performs better than its constituents.

Dr. Manjusri Misra, Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Biocomposites, is designing and engineering biocomposites. She and her research team are creating innovative, environmentally friendly materials from sustainable resources, recycled materials and waste-stream feedstock. Their research will reduce waste, pollution and greenhouse gas emissions while supporting the manufacturing sector in Canada and internationally.
