Research summary

New, cost-effective solutions to manage physical assets would benefit a range of economic sectors—from health care to energy, transportation and manufacturing. Not only could these solutions improve efficiency, but they could also make these sectors more sustainable and resilient. As Canada Research Chair in Physical Asset Management, Dr. Sharareh Taghipour aims to help develop such solutions.

She and her research team are designing real-time, distributed decision-making systems for physical asset management, particularly for health management, prescriptive maintenance and production scheduling. They are also advancing new methods for designing systems and supply chain networks that are safer and more reliable, resilient and sustainable. The automated systems that Taghipour’s team develops will result in higher productivity, fewer errors and reduced costs.
