Research summary

The greenhouse gases emitted by carbon-intensive industries, such as transportation and manufacturing, are creating an increasingly urgent global problem. Renewable power is critical to reducing these emissions. Dr. Sharareh Taghipour, Canada Research Chair in Physical Asset Management, is developing novel, cost-effective solutions to address this problem and make renewable power systems more reliable.

Taghipour’s approach includes reliability modelling and optimizing physical assets, such as manufacturing machinery, turbines, transformers and dams. Ultimately, she and her research team aim to enable major greenhouse gas emitters in carbon-intensive industries to reduce their emissions and improve our environment, economy and public health.
