Research summary
Changing family models in recent decades have ushered in new and varied types of parenting. As Canada Research Chair in Third-Party Reproduction and Family Ties, Dr. Isabel Côté seeks to foster an integrative overall understanding of parenting with the help of a third party, be it a gamete/embryo donor or a surrogate mother.
Côté and her research team are developing a deeper understanding of these families and the children who are conceived through these arrangements. They hope to use their new knowledge to develop innovative intervention practices, enhance the well-being of everyone involved and support public policy-makers.
