Research summary

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical objects that are embedded with technologies that enable them to connect and exchange data over the Internet. As the IoT continues grows, security and privacy issues arise that need to be addressed, and our current measures are not always enough. Dr. Atefeh Mashatan, Canada Research Chair in Quality of Security (QoSec) Framework for Internet-of-Things, is working to enhance the security of the emerging IoT.

She and her research team are establishing a Quality of Security (QoSec) framework for the IoT that will address the longevity of data protection and the varying privacy sensitivity levels of IoT data while also managing decentralized identities and credentials. Ultimately, they are working toward implementing new protocols to better respond to emerging IoT scenarios and protect the security and privacy of data.
