Research summary
Canada has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 30 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030. Dr. Ying Zheng, Canada Research Chair in Chemical Reactions and Intensification, is working to help Canada meet this commitment by significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Zheng and her research team are designing new processes to improve the performance, reliability and durability of decarbonization technologies as well as reduce their costs. To do this, they are creating massive micro- and nano-interfaces to lower operating pressure for biofuel production. They are also maximizing carbon dioxide hydrogenation to valued chemicals and integrating modular processes to maximize overall efficiency. Ultimately, their work will help translate newly developed technologies into viable commercial applications.
