Research summary
The global music industry is worth billions of dollars and is growing continuously, with a variety of digital channels available for consumers to find and use music. As Canada Research Chair in Music Information Retrieval, Dr. Ichiro Fujinaga is designing a 21st-century global digital music library that will include an online digital document analysis and retrieval system that can be accessed anywhere in the world.
Over the past decade, Fujinaga has made significant advances in searching methodologies for musical contents as well as technologies for making music scores searchable. Now, he and his research team plan to enhance this system by incorporating more metadata (data about data) related to music documents, including scores, audio and video recordings, bibliographies and biographies.
