Research summary

Many common products rely on colloidal and electrochemical technologies. A colloid is a mixture made up of nanoparticles, where one substance is evenly dispersed in another. Colloidal technologies are used to make everything from pharmaceuticals to cosmetics to foods. Electrochemical technologies play a key role in many fields, including green energy, water treatment and the development of batteries that power the appliances, vehicles and devices we use every day.

Dr. Igor Zhitomirsky, Canada Research Chair in Micro-nanotechnology, is developing advanced colloidal and electrochemical technologies for key applications in printed and flexible electronics, energy storage devices, green technologies and environmental protection. He and his research team aim to make significant breakthroughs in micro-nanotechnologies. Ultimately, their work could lead to the development and commercialization of innovative new products that rely on these technologies.
