Research summary
International justice seeks to ensure accountability for some of the world’s most heinous crimes, such as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. Dr. Miriam Cohen, Canada Research Chair in Human Rights and International Reparative Justice, is exploring international justice and reparations for human rights violations along with the relationship between human rights, new technologies and the empowerment of individuals and communities.
Cohen and her research team seek to better understand and model the challenge of human rights protection in the context of a changing world order. They would like to develop a more inclusive concept of international justice in dealing with human rights violations, as well as a theoretical frame of reference through which access to the law and justice can empower individuals and communities.
