Research summary

Functional polymer materials are macromolecules whose unique properties make them useful in a variety of emerging and sustainable energy and electronic applications. Dr. Audrey Laventure, Canada Research Chair in Functional Polymer Materials, is establishing an innovative research program focused on 3D printing of these materials.

She and her research team are merging chemistry-based approaches and advanced fabrication techniques to develop new molecular assembly strategies that will enable unprecedented built-in functionalities in 3D printed objects. They are also investigating the structure-property relationships at play during the additive manufacturing of polymer materials. Ultimately, their findings will open up exciting new avenues for the use of functional polymers.
