Research summary
Protecting public health and ensuring the safety of drinking water require interdisciplinary approaches. As Canada Research Chair in Analytical and Environmental Toxicology, Dr. Xing-Fang Li is working to discover new water contaminants while at the same time improving our understanding of their potential health effects and devising effective solutions to address them.
Li and her research team are developing new analytical technologies that will enable the identification of new water disinfection by-products. She and her team are also conducting studies of these by-products to determine their health risk. By better understanding these chemical processes, their research will lead to engineering solutions to ensure safe drinking water.
