Canada Research Chairs win big in 2016 Killam Prizes


Congratulations to Canada Research Chairs Isabelle Daunais, Elizabeth Edwards, Steven Narod and Daniel Trefler for winning the prestigious 2016 Killam Prizes. The researchers will each receive a $100,000 prize in recognition of their exceptional career achievements in their fields.

Several  chairholders were also awarded the 2016 Killam Research Fellowships. Susanna Braund, Christophe Caloz, Andrew Gonzalez and Stephen McAdams received awards to support their ongoing projects of outstanding merit.


The Canada Council Killam Program, inaugurated with lifetime and testamentary gifts by Dorothy J. Killam in memory of her husband Izaak Walton Killam, includes the Killam Prizes and the Killam Research Fellowships. In total, the Killam Trusts are valued at approximately $450 million, of which the Canada Council portion is $57 million.
