Making Business Profitable and Sustainable

Since profit-making is the number one priority of business, it should come as no surprise when businesses prioritize short-term business goals over long-term societal interests.

However, Dr. Pratima Bansal, Canada Research Chair in Business Sustainability, believes that long-term business success requires businesses to balance short- and long-term societal interests.

Bansal is able to identify how businesses, by becoming sustainable, can both reduce social and environmental risks and open up business opportunities.

She argues that sustainability is fostered through diversity, so she also encourages greater dialogue and collaboration between industry and academia.

Bansal’s research not only helps business survive and thrive in the long run, but will also contribute to a more resilient society, economy and natural environment.
