Making business profitable and sustainable

Continuous and accelerating changes to technologies, products and markets not only undermine profits, but entail significant social and environmental costs. Dr. Pratima (Tima) Bansal, Canada Research Chair in Business Sustainability, has been researching sustainability issues in business for over 25 years.

Bansal’s research explores the decisions businesses make and the actions they take to be both profitable and sustainable. Her project aims to work with companies to develop innovations that will help make businesses more sustainable and will lead to a better balance between profitability and long-term societal interests.
