Research summary

Social research can equip us to confront societal inequities and empower vulnerable youth living at the intersection of multiple oppressions, but this process can also give rise to a number of issues. Dr. Annie Pullen Sansfaçon, Canada Research Chair in Partnership Research and Empowerment of Vulnerable Young People, is exploring these issues.

Pullen Sansfaçon and her research team are seeking to understand these youths’ experiences with oppression and empowerment. They are examining the ethical dimensions that are unique to partnership research among these populations and developing methodologies to foster their empowerment and social change. Their work will produce meta-knowledge anchored in the intersectionality and ethics of recognition while focusing on types of oppression and strategies, the issues raised by partnership research, and their impacts on the different people involved.
