Research summary

Seniors’ home residents who suffer from memory disorders often exhibit vocal, aggressive and apathetic behaviours—all signs of malaise. Dr. Anne Bourbonnais, Canada Research Chair in Eldercare, is working to improve their well-being and that of their friends, family and caregivers, who are also troubled by these behaviours.

Bourbonnais and her research team are developing and installing technology in seniors’ homes to help address this situation. Their research will enhance our understanding of elderly individuals with memory disorders and severe mental health problems and lead to methods of responding to them that are better adapted to seniors’ needs.
