Research summary

Medications are an important cornerstone of the health care system. But to optimize their effectiveness and minimize their risks, health care providers must decide which patients should receive which medication and at what dosage. Meanwhile, major drug payers (like governments and private insurance companies) need information about a medication’s optimal use when considering whether or not to fund a drug and for whom.

As Canada Research Chair in Real-World Evidence and Pharmaceutical Policy, Dr. Mina Tadrous is conducting research to inform and strengthen pharmaceutical policy on national and international scales using real-world evidence. He and his research team are harnessing real-world data from across Canada and the globe to conduct research that is relevant to pharmaceutical decision-makers. In addition, they are establishing a Centre for Real-World Evidence that can leverage advanced methods and novel data sets to develop capacity.
