The best cities are those that enable people with disabilities to get around without barriers so they can participate fully in society. As Canada Research Chair in Senseable Cities for Empowered Mobility, Dr. Mir Abolfazl Mostafavi is contributing to the development of theories, methods and tools to help all citizens, especially those with disabilities, be as mobile as possible and enjoy better quality of life.
Mostafavi and his research team are studying mobility in various forms—not just as it relates to physical disabilities, but to sensory, cognitive, or intellectual deficits as well. By incorporating the latest advances in the field of geospatial data sciences and technologies, they are ultimately contributing to the development of more accessible, liveable cities.
