Research summary

Health outcomes for children visiting emergency departments are limited by the availability of reliable data from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and by the dissemination of new knowledge to clinical practitioners. The overarching goal of my research program is to overcome limitations in the generation and movement of knowledge to improve outcomes for critically ill and injured children.

This will be done through improving the design, conduct and dissemination of RCTs. Innovative methods will be used to improve the way we perform RCTs, and will have greater relevance for child health. An emphasis will be placed on adaptive designs and use of Bayesian analysis. Improving the rigor and relevance of RCTs will help ensure that health outcomes are improved through this important tool to create new evidence.
